Dr. Shaoming Yang: A Fusion of Eastern and Western Medical and Martial Arts Wisdom

Dr. Shaoming Yang, born into a family of both medical and martial arts heritage, has been practicing martial arts since childhood, mastering its profound essence.

He graduated with an MD in Preventive Medicine (including research design and statistical work) from Tongji Medical University. He worked for eight years at Tongji Affiliated Hospital in the departments of cardiovascular diseases, dermatology, sexually transmitted diseases, and rehabilitation, gaining expertise in the three major systems of clinical medicine, preventive medicine, and rehabilitation in Western medicine.

Dr. Yang later earned a Master’s degree in Oriental Medicine from the South Baylo University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in California, USA.

Not only does he specialize in integrating Eastern and Western medicine for treating complex and difficult diseases, but he has also incorporated folk remedies, empirical formulas, Qigong, acupoint therapy, as well as Arabian folk medicine, Indian medicine, and Tibetan medicine into his practice. He has been actively involved in large-scale medical research and statistical studies and is recognized as a key figure in the global medical Qigong community.

During the Qigong boom of the 1990s, he held key positions in multiple Qigong associations, overseeing classes with over 7,000 participants daily, treating a variety of difficult and complex diseases. He has frequently been invited as a keynote speaker at the World Health and Wellness Congress and international academic conferences, contributing significantly to the preservation and advancement of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).

Dr. Yang believes that no single medical system is perfect or capable of solving all medical challenges. He draws inspiration from various philosophical and scientific traditions, including Taoist “Unity of Heaven and Man” theory, Buddhist epistemology, the I Ching (Book of Changes), and Feng Shui ecological environment theories, which provide valuable insights into holistic well-being.
