Acupuncture Therapy Introduction:

Acupuncture is part of a medical system called Traditional Chinese Medicine that has been in continuous use for five thousand years and is the cornerstone of a civilization of nearly 1.4 billion people. Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese medicine is rooted in ancient Taoist philosophy which views a person as an energy system in which body and mind are unified, each influencing and balancing the other. Unlike conventional medicine which attempts to isolate and separate a disease from a person, Chinese Medicine emphasizes a holistic approach that treats the whole person. Many people have found Traditional Chinese methods of healing to be excellent tools for healing disease, maintaining optimum health and preventing illness. It is effective for physical, psychological and emotional problems.

The ancient Chinese believed that there is a universal life energy called qi (pronounced “chee”) present in every living creature. This energy is said to circulate throughout the body along specific pathways that are called vessels or meridians. As long as this energy flows freely throughout the meridians, health is maintained, but once the flow of energy is blocked, the system is disrupted and pain and dysfunction occur. Imagine rivers that flood and cause disasters or an electrical grid short-circuiting that causes blackouts. Acupuncture works to reprogram and restore normal function by stimulating certain points on the meridians in order to free up the qi energy.

Acupuncture therapy treats::

Stroke, facial paralysis, headache, insomnia, dizziness, obesity, various pain syndromes (headache, trigeminal neuralgia, shoulder and arm pain, cervical spondylosis, low back pain, heel pain, hypertrophic knee pain), dysmenorrhea, chronic fatigue syndrome, etc.

Advantages of acupuncture therapy:

1. Combination of acupuncture and medicine for the treatment of stroke

He is good at using head acupuncture and uses “exercise acupuncture”, which means that stroke patients are asked to do limb exercises while acupuncture. When the twisting reaches a certain stimulation time and amount, the patient’s affected limb activity is immediately improved. With the flexible application of Chinese medicine, the patient’s affected limb function recovery is promoted, which has achieved the purpose of shortening the treatment course of stroke patients.

2. Combination of acupuncture and medicine for the treatment of fatty liver

Taking TCM syndrome differentiation and treatment as the guiding principle, Chinese herbal medicine is used for different syndromes, and “green” acupuncture weight loss technology is used, which has opened up a new effective, simple, cheap and safe way for the treatment of fatty liver.

3. Acupuncture treatment of pain

Pay attention to the use of acupuncture techniques, combined with electroacupuncture stimulation to enhance the analgesic effect. The meridian syndrome differentiation and acupoint selection are used, which has a good effect on headaches, trigeminal neuralgia, cervical spondylosis, low back pain, heel pain, etc.

4. Acupuncture treatment of chronic fatigue syndrome with the method of matching acupoints of yin and yang qi and blood.

Acupuncture therapy is one of the effective methods for treating chronic fatigue syndrome. According to its pathogenesis, the method of matching acupoints of yin and yang qi and blood is selected to achieve the therapeutic purpose of harmonizing qi and blood, yin and yang, and viscera. It can better play the synergistic effect of acupoints, regulate qi and blood in meridians, balance yin and yang, and achieve better therapeutic effects.

Precautions for Chinese medicine acupuncture therapy

What should I pay attention to when receiving acupuncture treatment?

Before treatment:

When seeing a doctor, wear loose clothes. It is not advisable to wear tight clothes such as jeans, so as not to make acupuncture operation inconvenient and affect the efficacy. Women please do not wear pantyhose, it is better to wear two-piece clothes for convenience.
Acupuncture is not suitable when hungry, full, thirsty, frightened, angry, overly nervous, urgent, or after intense exercise. Do not perform acupuncture immediately after fasting or excessive fatigue or severe insomnia, so as not to faint from the needle due to weakness.
Before treatment, please sit quietly and rest for five minutes. Relax your body and stabilize your emotions, so that the qi and blood flow naturally, and the efficacy is better.

During treatment:

During acupuncture, whether sitting, supine, or prone, you should maintain the most comfortable posture for yourself. Both body and mind should be relaxed, natural, and calm. Sit upright and do not cross your legs. During treatment, the body should be relaxed, and do not move or change posture casually to avoid pain and danger.
If you feel uncomfortable during treatment, such as dizziness, nausea, cold sweat, palpitations, dry mouth, blurred vision, shortness of breath, etc., these are signs of needle sickness. Please tell the medical staff immediately to deal with them.
If you feel burning sensation during moxibustion or infrared treatment, or if you feel the current decrease or increase during electroacupuncture treatment, please tell the medical staff at any time.
During acupuncture, there will be soreness, numbness, swelling, heaviness, electricity, ants, etc., which are called “needle sensations”. This is a normal phenomenon and there is no need to worry. If you feel uncomfortable, or if the patient’s body moves and the muscle fibers are entangled and painful, please tell the medical staff to deal with it.
Patients with stroke who are inconvenient to move, the elderly, the disabled, or seriously ill should be accompanied by relatives and friends to take care of them at any time for safety.

After treatment:

After the needle is removed, do not rub the needle hole to avoid bruising, bleeding, or infection. After acupuncture, if there is subcutaneous bleeding or bruises, don’t be nervous, it will be absorbed or disappear by itself, you can also use a little hot compress to speed up absorption or disappearance. If you still feel soreness or bruises for one or two days, don’t worry, it will be absorbed and disappear by itself after a few days.
If there is still a sense of soreness, numbness, swelling, and distension after acupuncture, it may remain for several hours, or even one or two days. This is a normal phenomenon, don’t panic.
Acupuncture is a safe physical therapy, so you can take a bath, work, labor, and exercise as usual after the treatment.
Each acupuncture session lasts about 20 to 30 minutes. The effect of young and strong patients and acute injuries progresses faster; the elderly and chronic patients usually need long-term treatment, at least 2-3 times a week is more appropriate, please cooperate with the consultation to consolidate the effect.
In addition to the analgesic effect, acupuncture can also treat a variety of diseases. Usually, it can be used together with oral medication to enhance the effect and shorten the course of treatment.

Although acupuncture is a very safe treatment method, if the patient can fully communicate with the doctor before treatment and pay attention to the necessary preparations for acupuncture, it will definitely improve the safety of acupuncture and reduce many unnecessary troubles.
